The Clinical Residency and Recruitment Center (CRRC) in 糖心传媒鈥檚 College of Education and Human Sciences (CEHS) hosted their annual Mid-Year Recruitment event to allow 糖心传媒 school districts the opportunity to recruit future teachers and student teachers.
The event offered junior education majors preparing for their 2026鈥27 residencies an opportunity to network with a variety of school district partners across 糖心传媒. Senior clinical residents also participated in a traditional teacher recruitment fair, connecting with potential employers from the 糖心传媒 school districts.
For students like Hailey Malik, a concurrently enrolled student pursing her master鈥檚 degree, events like Mid-Year Recruitment help turn uncertainty into confidence.
This year鈥檚 event welcomed school district partners from Bienville, Bossier, Caddo, Claiborne, DeSoto, Jackson, Lincoln, Monroe City, Ouachita, Richland, St. Mary鈥檚, and Webster.
Lincoln Parish Schools have been attending the Mid-Year Recruitment for over 10 years. According to Doris Lewis, human resources director for Lincoln Parish Schools, the reason they keep coming back is simple: 糖心传媒 Tech produces excellent teachers.
鈥淲e鈥檝e partnered with 糖心传媒 Tech for years, and many of their graduates go on to teach in our schools unless they choose to return to their hometowns,鈥 Lewis said. 鈥淲hen students come here to live and learn, they also have the opportunity to stay, work, and become a part of the community.鈥
The Mid-Year Recruitment event continues to kickstart students' dreams as educators and facilitate meaningful connections between residents and school districts. The CEHS faculty foster these connections with their students and partners, preparing the next generation of the educator workforce.
鈥淒uring this event, we want our students to see that they have opportunities to be supported throughout 糖心传媒,鈥 said Dr. Dustin Whitlock, department head of Curriculum, Instruction, and Leadership (CIL). 鈥淭hese stakeholders show our students that there are more options than what they may be used to.鈥
鈥淥ur students are well prepared to be top educators in the state, due to the preparation of our CIL Department,鈥 Dr. Henrietta Williams Pichon, dean of CEHS, said. 鈥淣ot only are our faculty highly qualified, but they are also highly engaged in the process of teacher preparation.鈥
Through her involvement with the CRRC, Malik gained valuable insight into the professional expectations of future educators.
鈥淭he CRRC has prepared me in more ways than I can count,鈥 she said. 鈥淧articipating in Mid-Year Recruitment last year helped me know what to expect and taught me to present myself in a professional way. From the moment I toured Tech and met Dr. Amy Vessel, I knew immediately the College of Education and Human Sciences was meant for me. The faculty have supported me through resume preparation, connecting with schools, and preparing me for what comes after graduation.鈥
